Sorry to say...

We are not only in the midst of a 18"-20" blizzard but our too old computer suddenly has about a half dozen keys that don't work and our back up computer doesn't work at all. There have been no Russian spies around these parts, so it is probably due to excessive age. In any case cut and paste is still possible and our early period IPad still works well.

It's more than likely your keyboard rather than your computer, Sam. And even odds that it's just scum on the USB or round connector.

You can clear off the scum with some hi-test (91%) alcohol from the drugstore, or even some vodka/brandy in a pinch.

Disconnect the power cord!

Unplug the keyboard (and mouse), swab the connectors with hi-test. Re-insert when dry, pushing and pulling a bit to de-scum the socket side too.

Do the same to the video and other connectors: remove, use hi-test to disturb the scum, re-insert when dry.

If the rest of the box seems to be feeling poorly and then gently take out every card (hold only by the edges) and swab the gold connectors with the hi-test, re-insert when dry.

Plug in the power cord again.

Forgot to mention: if it turns out that the problem is bigger than scum, the Logitech K360 wireless keyboard is good value for under $35 from/thru Amazon. Maybe less elsewhere.
